I was recently sent a samples package of Detour energy bars. I was asked to provide a product review in exchange. Unfortunately, I could not eat them, as all of the varieties contained dairy products, and I'm allergic to dairy... So, I doled them out to others and pieced together what I could of a review.

Detour Runner Chocolate Peanut Butter - "very good"
Detour Runner Lemon Yogurt - "Gatorade?"
Detour Runner Chocolate Chip Cookie
Detour Core Strength Caramel Peanut - "sweeet!"
Detour Core Strength Chocolate Caramel - "tastes like a Snickers"
Detour Biker Toffee Almond - "A+"
Detour Biker Raspberry Dark Chocolate - "when can I buy?"
Detour Biker Chocolate Peanut Butter

On a scale of 1-10, the energy bars were rated overall an 8.

How long do you think the bar's contents will take to synthesize into the body for energy?

No idea. I couldn't eat them, so I have no direct experience.

Oh, I was assuming you have eaten other energy bars without dairy since they don't make every bar with dairy.

In general, any energy bar should have enough simple sugars in it to feel a fairly instant boost in the blood sugar level.

About sugar...I have this addiction to chocolate. I would always eat 3-4 kit-kat bars with some fruits and smoothies before I run. By 3-4 bars of kit kats I mean each "bar" having 4 pieces. I have eaten the chocolate power bars before I ran, but I felt no difference. Creatine....is different though.

Bad month for energy bars in general. January has seen many of the peanut butter containing bars recalled. Sad
