Anna WIELGUS, Joanna PIWOWARSKA, and Róża KASPRZAK should fight for the bronze medal during the Polish national indoor championships next weekend. They all have pole vaulted 4.30 meters or slightly over, but none of them has achieved 4.40 meters or better. Hopefully, one of them will come out from the shadow of two great Polish pole vault jumpers (Monika Pyrek and Agnieszka Rogowska; both cleared 4.75 meters or better indoors).
Moreover, there should be a great competition among the Polish male high jumpers for two spots on the Polish team leaving for Moscow in March.
Wojciech Theiner, born in 1986, has achieved the qualifying minimum jumping 2.28 meters last weekend (or 89 inches and 3/4 of an inch or 7 feet and 4 and 3/4 inches). Grzegorz Sposob and Aleksander Walerjanczyk (born in 1982) have jumped 2.25 meters, and Robert Wolski 2.23 meters (born in 1982 as well). They all have, so far, missed the Polish national federation's or PZLA's minimum by about an inch to two inches. They should challenge Walerianczyk during the Polish national indoor championships next weekend.
Sylwester Bednarek, born in 1989, established new Polish indoor youth national record jumping 2.16 meters (or 85 inches or 7 feet and 1 inch) in a competition this year.
Przemyslaw Czerwinski, working with two Ukrainian coaches, have qualified for the championships achieving the PZLA's minimum of 5.70 meters last weekend.
However, here, Tim Lobinger seems to be the best, and so far the only, candidate for the gold medal.

In Birmingham, during Norwich Union Grand Prix meet, Grazyna Prokopek lost to the winner, Yelena Isinbayeva , both cleared 4.79 meters. 4.79 meters is the new Polish national indoor record.
