in practice, you'll see that many people on the team have skills different than yours, better than yours, but that doesn't mean you can't beat them. If girls are beating you, I doubt you'll make state. But that doesn't mean you can accomplish something good. On my team theres this guy called "Pete". Pete started the year w/ 2:44 800m, then cut to 2:40, then to 2:30, and finally to 2:20. Pretty fantastic for 4 races! (but our top girl still beat him). Don't worry about the girls, because girls are especially competitive in the track setting. If you refer to the nike list, the top girl's high school mile is 4:45! Thats great even for a guy! Don't assume that all men are faster than women.
But here are some other possibilities:
-do you think negative thoughts? Do you ever let up? You've got to conquer the pain, control the pain, use the pain to your advantage to soar to new heights?
-are you sure this is your best event? Maybe its time to give something new a shot. Idea
-how are you treating your body? Eat healthy. thats all i can say. Rumor is out that getting the "jollies" makes you slow too. But I can't confirm that.
