Hey guys, I just ran my debut indoor race at the University of Washington's 307m track. My time was 8:43 for 3k and I finished somewhere in the middle of the pack. I was kind of reluctant to do this race because it's so early. My training is aimed at outdoor, so I've only done one track workout so far. My PR going in was 9:04 and I was really afraid that I'd run a super crappy race. I went out with the pack in 68 for 400 and have no idea what the rest of my splits were... must have been in the zone or something because I didn't hear anything.

So that's one barrier down, now I need to run sub 4 and sub 2 in my first 1500 and 800 of the season Smile

Excellent debut! I hear that's a super nice indoor facility, but I haven't been up there yet. How'd you like it?

We start practice tomorrow...

The facility was great. While I was running I didn't have any problems with the dryness or lack of air circulation. Standing on the back side of the track I could actually feel a bit of a wind because of the ventilation system. Also, being a 300m track rather than 200 is nice. When there's 20 people in the race you want to spend as little time as possible rounding corners. I spent quite a bit of time in lanes two and three as it was.

There weren't a whole lot of people since it's the first Dempsey meet, but I would imagine that if there were, it could get pretty conjested. The track just barely fits in the building, so everyone is packed into the infield.

Based on that I'm willing to bet you'll be able to be around 3:57. Where are you located now?

I'm going to the University of Victoria. And I'll probably be running the 1500 at the Cargill Games in Winnipeg two weeks from now.

Great effort, I agree that there should be more over-sized facilities.
