I want to run a mile in 4:30 before the end of Track season next year. Right now my PB is 5:44 and yesterday i ran a 6:18, and the day before that i ran a 6:35 and i have not been doing any work outs besides doing the timed mile for the past 2 days. Do you think i could get to 4:30 before the end of next season? And what kind of work outs would I have to run in order to reach my goal?

Is there any reason you're doing timed miles on back to back days? That's generally not conducive to optimal off season training.

There's really no telling how fast you can run next year. 1:14 is a very large improvement for one year, but stranger things have happened. The key will be in putting in the necessary work and seeing what the results are. You will need to run enough mileage to build sufficient aerobic capacity (that's a different amount for everyone) and be comfortable running 400's at 67 second pace.

The other day when i was running my lungs felt like they were on fire and it prevented me from getting a good time on the 2 mile, is there anyway i could get rid of the burning?

I ran 7:20 in the mile at the start of indoor season this year, now I run 5:04 and am aiming for under 4:50. He can certainly drop 1:14.

Not everyone can always improve that fast. And remember, it is much harder to get to a 4:30 than a 5:04. So far I have run a 4:52, and it my goal is 4:45 for this season. Last time my best time was 5:16, so I improved pretty good. My goal for my senior year is to run a 4:30 flat, which doesn't sound that hard, but it is much harder than it sounds. But I definately think it can happen.

Aside from the misspelling, you are very much correct. Smile
