Their men won today's XC National Championships with a score of 24 points. Second place was a full 150 points behind them. Surprised

And they're well represented by Oregonians...

Do you have a link to the results, yet? I saw that Willamette finished down the list on both Men's and Women's side. Was Rumore feeling OK? She finished as the 3rd runner. Noticed all of Willamette's women will return next year. In fact, it seems all of the top teams were laden with undergraduates.

Yes and no. Anything less than 5th probably was a disappointment for the men, and they finished 12th. Jake ran great for another top-10 finish, but everyone else looks to have been off. Not having Symmonds there obviously hurt, but that wasn't a difference maker... In the women's case, they were ranked 18-22 most of the season, so the 8th place finish is huge! Pierce was the 5th runner and probably capable of running 40-60 seconds faster on a good day (she's had a lot of injuries), which would move them up to 3rd or 4th. That gives you an idea how good they can be next year if everyone holds steady or improves. I'm not sure if Holbert will be back, though. She has eligibility still, but I think this is her last year to use it. I'm not positive about that... Not sure about Rumore, but she wasn't running quite as strong the last few meets of the season. I would guess she hit the typical frosh wall somewhere around mid-season.

Did you notice Whitman's frosh tearing it up on the women's side?

Laura Matsen. A big strong runner. Saw her handle the field at the Regionals. There was actually a freshman at the Nationals 2 spots ahead of her. And the winner won by over a minute. 20 flat for 6K, that's cruisin'.

Ritz won the Nat's! Great comeback for him.

As a former Air Force officer I was very pleased to see the Air Force men take 8th. Thumbs Up

As a Notre Dame fan I was equally pleased to see the Irish women take 10th. Thumbs Up

Stanford.....?......unbelievable!!!!!! Surprised

They gave the rest of the men's field an old fashioned butt kicking.

The women's DIII winner (Missy Buttry) would beat most of the DI runners handily. That looked to have been a pretty slow course at Nats, too. It'll be very interesting to see what she does at the next level...

And yes, great to see Ritz back to his winning ways. Thumbs Up

Wow, that's one heck of a training group those Stanford guys have Smile

Ryan Hayden made it into the twenties. He has the BC high school 1500m record and I've met him a couple times. I didn't even know he was going to Villanova.

You know you're good when you can redshirt All-Americans and not miss a beat.

Maybe I just don't follow DI XC as closely as I did 5 years ago, but this Stanford squad almost seems the least heralded since the arrival of Lanana, yet they were clearly the most dominant. Of course, Arkansas and Colorado don't have quite the teams we've grown accustomed to, but the Stanford guys look pretty tough up front. No Hausers, Jennings, Stember, Riley, Lunn, Nutter, etc., but this group of guys who came up in the shadows of Webb and Ritz are really getting it done.

She just won the USATF Club Nationals title, beating last year's DI runner-up in the process.

You're forgiven. Smile Not too many people follow DIII closely.

Missy Buttry has been named USATF Athlete of the Week this week.

Can we be her fan club?

I suppose we could, although I think she already has a pretty good following among D3'ers.

Here's a Thanksgiving Day Fun Run report from 10Ktruth with an interesting Stanford twist at the end.
