It is all well for the body builders because they do not care for the quality, but quantity. I have not seen an 8-hours a day-wiegts-lifting body builder win a 100 or 200 m race on an international level.

Uh... Of course not, two different sports/disciplines. My point was that people to whom strength/muscle mass/testosterone is highly important do not seem to have a problem with strength work of well over 45 minutes a day. That's why I said I think you have the meaning of that 45 minute cutoff confused with aerobic work, which is a completely different topic.

No, I am not confused. The decreased testosteron level in people who weight lift over 45 minutes was discoverd by a Bulgarian Olympic-weight lifters coach. The body builders do not care which kind of muscle do they grow, as long as they grow it. This may also help to explain why so many body builders do aid themselves with otherwise illegal substances, and why the body building organizations do not pay too much attention to the illegal doping problem: in so-called clean-events the most you can get disqulified for is the very single compettition. When it comes to the Olympic-weight lifting, of course, one has to strike the right ballance between how much slower twitch muscle does he or she need and how much testosteron production may be compromised at the same time.

T&F is the only sport that polices itself to the point of extinction, other than maybe cycling (even that is regulation more than anything)...

That's hardly a differentiating factor. People in that sport are just more up front about their drug usage.

Who all is using and benefitting from this supposed <45 minute system? Bulgaria does have a fine reputation in the weight lifting events, but I haven't seen any shortage of athletes who have excelled with much longer duration strength regimens.

The bottom line is that as long as non-American sprinters will overfocus on the movement/technique skills, and not enough on strenth, they do not stand much of a chance against the US-athletes. Simply, 90% of time the so-called floater has to lose to the power sprinter.
